z400 or 400ex

i am wanting a good durable sport 4wheeler that is worth the money and that will hold up for a long time.
and i have a few questions about these two.
first off i will be riding on trails (some tight and some rather roomy), some mud,and just about everywhere.
which one will be better and how good are they doing these things. exspecially mud(cause there is bottom ground all around where i ride)
i like the fact that honda is more reliable and i like them, but i also like the fact that the suzuki is more powerful and has reverse( where i can back out of tight spots)
so which is better for me, i have had a couple of dirt bikes and just got rid of my polaris 700. i just like the fact that a sport is more fun to ride and is lighter. i can get a 400ex for around $3000 and a z400 for around $4000 so if you can help me on this one please. thanks

well if u nead reverse get the z but if u mostly need botom and mid range power get the ex and if u want good hill power get the ex because it pulls a lot harder and overall it will most likely out last the z any day

You can get lots of good info on this very subject using the search function.
The 400EX is a nice quad but I personally don't think it is as good a value as the Z400. The 400Ex's I've ridden have decent enough power but the Z400 is just way snappier and keeps on reving. For tight trails I have to have reverse and that is one of the main reasons I didn't consider a 400EX. Also the liquid coolong on the Z400 helps out a lot on slow tight trails and on hot days. You can actually tell it doesn't lose power like an air cooler machine.

well rockrider i dont know what ex u road on but with all honesty i have road both and they were both still brand new and i hav to disagree i think the ex has a lot more snapp to it and acully revs farther plus i also like the reverse but i have never needed it and for the liquid cooling i love it and hate it the reason i hate it is because if u go out riding by your self and your miles from the house and you run a stick in the radiator or coolint bottle or just run out of coolint u are stuck on the ex if u over heat just sit for a few and chill then your ready to hit the trails some more but in my opinion they are both about the best trail quads u will ever buy and which ever one u choose you will not be unhappy because they both have the power and ***** to do it all

they can both be modded to do what you want the price of a used honda is getting really nice, and they do last. reverse is something that is nice if you have it, the rest of us adjust and go forward 99% of the time. no worry about the fact that we may have to push our quad back 3 feet and go again.

z400 is the best.. I only say that because i have one...lol
Last weekend i went trail riding with a pile of others 5 were on the ex
and i was only one on z400....noone needed reverse that day on as far as power
goes the z is only mildly faster in stock form..both are nice quads

im a two stroke fan so i really dont like neither and i have ridden both and if i were to buy eaither i would deffinately get the z.it is a better quad.handles just as good.has more power/speed,liquid cooling, and reverse.
