300ex when and where did you read that there was a legal limit to the top speed of atv's? IMO that's nonsense, that would be like sayin there is a legal limit for cars, trucks motorcycles, etc. I'm not dissin you but just find it hard to believe. i f look at previous mags they have the top speed numbers for many of these, and the only one stock to go over 75 was the Ds. Sorry honda guys I have a 450 too but the truth is what it is. And like mx said it's how quick you get there.

 

i read a whole 4 page article in i believe it was dirt rider mag. comparing and contrasting the yfz450 and the honda 450 ---- the yamaha is a better moto-x bike, and has over all faster speeds, the trx has a faster take off but ends up coming up short with speed.

Check out this site. Mags are always full of crap. This guy has info on dyno runs for a couple of bikes. The torque is very noticeable between the two bikes. I've ridden both and made the best choice for what type of riding I do.

i just read that by law a quad cant go over 75 MPH out of the box/stock. Does any one know if this is true or not? if so where did you get your info.

 

It's not how fast you get there when you are going full speed 300' into a 3-5 mile straightaway. Maybe top speed isn't inportant to some people but it is too some. Plus the higher top speed gives you a better CRUSING speed!!
