Default 250r problems

My friend bought a curtis sparks 265 engine off ebay and it will run good for a little while, then the porcelin on the spark plug separates from the rest of it. This has happened multiple times with various different brands of plugs. Does anyone know any solutions to this problem besides selling it and buying a YFZ?

I have never had that problem but it definetely sounds like too much heat is coming from somewhere. And don't sell it and buy a YFZ!

Strange. There gotta be more detail than that. Sure your not putting undue pressure on it when you're installing the plug? How does the tip of the spark plug look? Is it mushed, or does it look melted, or very lean or rich?

are you sure that you are not cracking the spark plug while putting it in....are you sure that you have the correct socket and that it is on straight cuz if you are cracking it while putting it in it will run just long enough for it to fall apart.

That thought crossed my mind too. If it's detonating that severely I find it amazing it's hung together enough for it to happen repeatedly.

I had that happen to mine back in January? I posted it at the time. I have just started to drive it again. After the rebuild I had to wait until the snow melted to break it in again, never found out what caused it.

topic: Have you ever had a spark plug explode?

I dont know how to post a link, so that was my best shot.
