The manual shift model is going to be more reliable, hands down. I don't have a lot of faith in things electronic around water and mud, and over time. Having said that, the ES is a lot more convenient to shift, I just don't like the added risk of problems. If you do go for the ES, shell out a few more bucks for the extended warranty while you're at it.

ES has been bulletproof for me and many other owners. Most problems with it have to with simple adjustments or caked mud in the handlebars that is never even sprayed off. Not to mention the fact that if you are in over your floorboards, the es can keep your feet dry.

id much rather have the foot shift, instead of teh button. if u ever want to do some wheelies, its easier, terrrible on the engine, but its like popping the clutch, just old it up rev it and drop it down

Sounds like a good reason to get the ES.

I have 2 350 Es Ranchers . Both units work great. It is nice when you are in deep water and can keep shifting an keep your feet dry.
IN very cold weather the display is slow to come on "10 degrees or colder." Shifts very smooth. Only problem That I had was a loose connection on display. I have a two wheel drive and a four wheel drive Both work Super.
26 inch Black Waters

I have a foreman with the es. no problems and I have been in all sorts of mud and water. sometimes so much mud I couldnot see my feet and had to literally break my boots off of the floor boards. Kinda hard to shift manually with that much crud. I would not hesitate the recomend the es.
