Default 450R falling short?

I've gotta tell ya, I haven't ridden the new 450R but I haven't heard too many good things. What were they thinking making the swingarm 1 inch shorter than '88-'89 250R! I've heard the 450 will wheelie so easy it is just not competetive with the YFZ. I have no intention of selling my 250R but if I had to buy a new quad I don't think it would be the 450R. I've ridden a YFZ and it felt awfully similar to my 250R. Honda's going to be in even more troulble next year because the CC deplacement maximum for pro racing has been raised from 440 to 450. The Honda is already a 450 but the YFZ is only a 440. You better bet Yamaha is going to bump it up to an equal 450 for the 2005 model year. I'm a die-hard Honda fan but from what I have heard Honda is a little off with the 450R.

I think it will be a good quad but if you were expecting it to meet the reduculous hype about it before it was finnaly for sale you might be disapointed.

You're right. I think everyone was expecting it to be a 4-stroke version of the 250R but that is not the case. I don't mean to upset anyone but I think the YFZ is a more worthy replacement to the 250R than the 450R.

i think its a great quad. Very comfortable to ride and has nice smooth power. However it just isnt comparable to the yfz. Its in a class of its own.

Ok, stock for stock, you dont thing a 450r is better than a 250r? lay down the blunt. They can both be made to be very competative to each other. The 450r is THE best quad i have ever ridden. You need to take a spin on the 450r and surprise yourself.I believe the 450r has backed up the hype 110%, my pictures page will tell you the same thing. Wheelies? I can keep the front end down like there was a rock on it if i wanted to. I think the information you read was VERY misleading. CC displacement? honestly how much horsepower can you gain raising it up 11cc's?

actually the yfz is 439, most people who got these 2 machines on the forums dont even put em on the track cause all i hear is drag races, dunes, trails etc.

The 450 is great, and the wheelie thing is just urban mythe! Most of the 250's out there didn't sit in a garage for 10 years! They are 15 years old and really showing their age.

LANCESTER, you're saying I don't know what I'm talking about?! I've been riding quads and dirtbikes since I was 4 years old (I'm 20 now). My father has bought and raced 4 brand new TRX250R's and 2 Banshee's. I race my 250R in MX but mostly XC. I have completely dissasembled my father's TRX and rebuilt it by myself 2 times and I am curently rebuilding mine. I think you don't know what you're talking about. And HONDARACER 305, did I say anything about the stock 250R being better than the stock 450R? My post said absolutely nothing like that. But modified I think the 250R is better. And RECONRANGER, just because my bike sat in a garage for 10 years doesn't mean it was perfect. I sank a lot of time and money on modifications I put on myself to make sure I'm competitive. All I did was was ask a question because all I'm hearing is mostly bad things about the 450R. Just read the thread "Whats up with Farr?". But if you guys are gonna reply to this post and say I don't know what I'm talking about I will be more than happy to fax you a picture of my trophies!

Your commenting on what you've "heard".Have you ridden them? Compared them side by side? I could care less how many trophies you have,an oppinion without any facts or actual experience to back them up means squat. I own one and can draw on three different magazine TEST which claim the two to be aplles to oranges. The TRX-450 is awesome.....
