fender shave!

Default fender shave!
i am going to shave the fenders on my 300ex and i need some tips from peopel who have done this to there 300ex or similer quad. how much flare should i leave, what tools should i use etc. thanks

Default fender shave!
I have used hack and coping saws to cut them. Then sand it down with some sand paper.
