Default kinda bummed out

Was cruising the beach last sunday with some buddies. Couple of dirt bikes, some lifted Toyotas, Jeeps, etc., all playing in the sand. I was riding my quad, having fun too. One guy started taking a real nutz line with his truck and swooping uphill through soft, deep sand. At the top of the hill was a small one foot high embankment. He would shoot for that, and his front end would climb it and help pull the truck up and over.

I thought, "Hey, that should be easy for my 4x4 Rancher!" So, I followed him, got my nose up to the hill, and what happens? Nothing! The "limited slip" just did that. Slipped. You could hear the diff switching from one axle to the other, and putting absolutely zero power to either of the front two wheels. It sounded bad and was embarrasing! I wish honda would had the lockout option on this bike!

BTW, clutch was slipping too!

Polaris doesn't make the only "true" 4x4. Molokai, highlifter makes a gearless locker that's probably better than a lot of the stock lockers on other brands of quads. You should check it out.
