Still fight the swingarm bolt HELP!
#1
Does anyone have any idea how to remove a froze swingarm bolt where it goes thru the motor? I have tryed heat, rust inhibitor, trying to drive it out. I am going to try to press it out tomorrow with a vise and my last option is to cut out the bolt with a torch... and I really don't want to use a torch on it!
Thanks, Gary

DONT cut it with a torch!!! it will make one BIG mess and be hard to do... Also a press isn't the best way either!! that will bend your frame if your not CAREFUL!! My advice is to get a cut off disk and use that... my neighbor used the same thing on his atc250r.

It's a 2000 400ex. I had to cut the bolt with a torch to get the engine out of the frame. I drove out the ends of the bolt on each side of the frame toward the center, that went fine because of the bearings. But now I have the segment of the bolt that is stuck in the motor, I used a cut off tool to cut it pretty much flush to each side of the motor. I had the ends mushroomed out from hitting it with a hammer and flushed them to get it ready to press out. The only thing I am afraid of is busting the case, if I try to press the bolt out. Gary

Go & borrow or buy a bushing driver. They come in different sizes & allow you to beat the crap out of the bolt without mushrooming the end of the bolt. Also, I would soak the bolt with wd-40 overnight before attempting this.
