i didn't have a subframe prob, but i have noticed that the frame was welded off center from the factory. my left wheel has more camber than the right as in sits closer at the top than the bottom, just though you might want to check

How did you decide your frame was welded off center? My right,(or left I forget)front wheel has more camber than the left, I have measured everything I can think of and can't figure it out. I even checked the a arms for straight. Mine has been wrecked pretty hard a couple of times, but I can't figure out what's bent.

My camber is slightly different on either wheel also. I thought I was just seeing things, but now I'll double check. I'll also take a look at my subframe. I don't really understand why Honda felt the need to make the subframe and grab bar all one piece. The 400ex is the only quad to have this.

Yep, mine is tweaked somewhat as well as another EX I have here at the house. Never considered it much of a problem though...

Have you checked out any of my new pics (Batavia race track), nothing truly spectacular. Hopefully I will have some from the Lampe track up soon, they should be fairly impressive, we're going to try to do a photo shoot tomorrow (Wednesday).....

jeeze you wouldnt think that the weight of a battery would bend the frame!? Thats what it sounds like saying to me, there is no way the battery is going to bend the frame!!!! unless you had a 400lb. battery...

o0oHondao0o,

They’re saying the frame has a factory bend on the battery side of the frame. The bend is necessary to place the battery in the factory location. The factory bend in the frame makes a weak spot that bends even more when stressed.

A permanent fix is to relocate the battery and replace the sub frame with an after market one that has straight tubing on both sides.

question.... if someone were to hit the grab bar in a 2nd gear wheelie.... could this cause the frame to be bent even more???

Ive never noticed this on my 2000 400EX and I have stood it up on the grab bar from wheelies(alot) rolled it, flipped it, and jumped tha crap out of it. Mine kind of bends up, which is from the wheelies I guess. What do you think?
