1999 400ex oil change

Default 1999 400ex oil change

I just bought a 400ex and i want to change the oil, but i dont really know how to, i've had 2 strokes before this so i have no idea. I heard that there is a oil fliter. where is it.? do u have to change it everytime u change your oil, wut kind of oil do i use?where is the drain plug?help me out guys im lost with my new bike i have no idea how to do this someone let me kno

Default 1999 400ex oil change

To drain your oil...Your drain plug is about in the middle of the engine(underneth the engine)..The oil filter is on the right side (from sitting on bike) It has two bolts that hold the cover one( the cover is about 2-3" around it is to the front and up a little from the foot brake lever...I change my filter every time I change my oil.. I use BEL-RAY Thumper oil in my 400ex...I put 2 quarts in mine...I hope that helps..

Spuds directions aren't very good. They are incomplete and wrong. Here is a better one.

Default 1999 400ex oil change

The bad thing is with the 400EXs is that refilling takes forever. The holes in the tank filler are very small and you have to pour slowly so that you don't lose any oil. I change my oil so often that I have contemplated modifying the tank so I can put oil in faster.

why modify use a funnel with a long neck
