I've got a problem. First of all I don't have a Clymers manual (need to get one). I'm tearing my quad apart to get the head off so I can have it bored because my rubber breather hose came disconnected from my carb and sucked in sand. It smokes like you wouldn't believe and now is making funny knocking noises. Anyway, I've gotten everything taken apart except for the engine. I took off 2 side bolts on each side of the head, hoping it would come off. Didn't even budge. Do I need to take the engine apart piece by piece. Meaning, take off the cam then top part of the head and then to the lower part of the head. For right now I can't find any more bolts to take off. I was hoping for the whole head and cam to pull off the piston but I guess not. Can anyone help me. Sorry about the long post, just want to be specific enough. Thanks

Yep, you take the top of the motor off, pull the cam off (remove sprocket from cam) look for bolts below, remove them, then next piece comes off and you are at the top of the piston, then you probably find more bolts and remove them to get the next layer (where the piston goes up and down) off. I stopped at the top of the piston to change the head gasket.
