I definetely would not spend $800 (I think thats how much they cost) on a pair ofshocks that are that unconventional and unproven.

 

AXIS,ELKA,PEP,TCS for 400ex if you have the money, but if you have low budget get works dualrate/triple with rezzies

 

IMHO PEP/ZPS are superior but the wait for them is just ridiculous. My first set took over 10 months and I now have another set on order and it's been 6 months and still counting!!

 

What does a set of each cost? I am looking at getting a set for our EX. I just happend to stumble on an MX track this weekend and I think I found my now home [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] That and the trails.. The EX seems so bouncy on the trails. I was thinking of the tripple-works with piggys...

 

MUDSTUD, if money is not an option go for the Elkas. I think they cost somewhere at or above $1,000. Works with Tripple rates and rezzys are decent and cheap at $525 but are not the highest quality. I went with Ohlins because they are extremely well built like the high dollar shocks but only cost around $650. I've got the single rates but because they are adjustable I have found them to perform much better than the Works.

Elka with rezzys are 1070.. I just got the quote..
works are 399 no rezys, 579 with rezys and 749 with piggy back..

I always thought the remot rezzys were MORE money? why are they less? Seams like the piggys are smaller and would cost less??

It is between works/TCS and Olins simply for cost.> I want a GOOD shock for under 700...

 

Go with the Ohlins. I've got them on the front and rear of my 250R and I love them.

 

I'm getting beat up BADLY on my TRX450R doing desert riding...arm pump and all. The kind of riding that I do is about 30 mph, through 4-6 inch ruts and potholes. The side to side jarring is killing me and making me think I should switch BACK to a bike.

I'm debating between spending $500 - $700 on upgrading my shocks, or putting that money toward buying a bike...I really like the wheeler, but I need a PLUSH ride to keep her. At the same time, I still want to be able to hit some decent jumps too. I'm just having a hard time tossing that much money at the wheeler without being able to try them out first. If I were to get some tripple rates for the fronts, ANY brand, how much would it help me? How much difference would I notice between Works, Ohlins, or Elka?

My other option is to have my stockers upgraded to tripple rates and revalved. Elka said they flat out would not do it, but I have heard Works will...but it's been three days, and I still haven't gotten a reply from them about it...I'm not really impressed by their customer service at this point. At least the Elka rep got back to me within a day.

 

I don't think that you would have much luck getting a smooth ride through ruts that large without getting a long travel setup with good quality shocks.
