I need a recommendation for an ATV trailer, need a lot of cargo and weight capacity. It also needs to be fairly light because I will be pulling it through some mud holes with a Foreman 450S.

I have the red ATV trailer sold through the Northern catalog. It has big ATV-type tires, plenty of ground clearance, and very solid axles. It has a lift off tail gate and a dump mechanism.

There are some with larger capacity, but I've never seen any others with the big tires like this one. I've been very happy with it, but there are some other good ones out there including some very innovative models.

This has gotten a lot of play here in the past -- you might run a search and check out some of the previous discussions.

 

Well, high capacity and low weight don't exactly go together. It also depends on what you are pulling it with, what can your vehicle tow. Trust me, a trailer can drag you down at highway speeds. Anyway, I use a snowmobile trailer that is 8' x 10' and weighs about 500 lbs. It is flat and fairly low to the ground and the whole trailer bed tilts to drive up on. It can hold about 3 quads if needed but mostly I haul 2 with it. Whatever you get, make sure it has the big tires and solid axle. Good luck.

 

Go with a aluminum trlr, 5' long,4'wide with tandam axles under it and you can pull it anywhere, and the welded aluminum makes it waterproof.

 

i made a small trailor,i cut down a 4x8, for my quad i think the deck is 39x40 and i bolted a car roof top carrier on,its light weight and weather proof.

 

I have a Triton Elite 8'x10' and it weighs less than 500lbs and tilts to load and unload.I used the supplied hold down screws for snowmobiles and drilled two holes in a treated 4x4x8'and fastened it down using the supplied threaded holes in the bed.I now drive both Ranchers on until they hit the 4x4 and put the park brake on and tie them down.It is quick and easy.Two Honda Ranchers and a Sportsman fit on perfect !!The Triton Aluminum 8x10 snowmobile trailer will run you about $850 but it is well worth it !! Are you looking for a trailer for behind your quad, or are you looking for a trailer to transport your quad? If you have two quads you almost need both to get between trees in the woods, and the lights and decking will get beat up a lot faster if you use it for utility use.

 

Thanks for the info so far, but the trailer is for the Honda to pull not to carry the Honda. I've seen several advertised but don't know anyone that has one.

 

Depending on what the task is: I bought a used single place snowmobile trailer 4x6 that I haul things like logs for to be cut up for firewood. I paid under a 100 bucks and put another 50 into it. The second trailer I bought was a Rubbermaid lawn and garden trailer that I use for things like propane tanks & gear out to the deer blinds. That trailer was over 200, it is made out of a polymer product and really takes a beating. The third thing I did was have a steel plate 3/8" thick made that the ball is the attaching device with an additional hole for pull behinds. I also have a 450, I will admit that the snowmobile trailer has been tuff in the mud. Winching out has been known to have happened, a lot of times the trailer is overloaded.
