Default 400ex problems

I just got the bike a few weeks ago and im already having some problems. It keeps fouling plugs. I was running fine before. I took the little screen thing out of my exhaust (white bros R4) and ever since then it started fouling plugs. I dont know if thats whats doin it but i need help. Someone told me that another reason is just i have vents in my air box cover they said your only suppose to have that if u have a full exhaust and i only have a slip on but i have a k&n filter someone help me im gettin f*ckin pissed with this bike and im about to sell it. well, you probably have a jetting problem. and you can tell by the color of the plug. if its real black deposits and its alot like not normal it is running rich, if it is a chalky white kinda powder it is running lean. hope ya get it running

Have you tried putting the little screen thing (spark arrestor) back in to see if it runs good again? That is the first thing you should have done. If not, put it back in and try it. You probably made it run a little too lean. The guy that told you that you can only put in airbox vents if you're running a full sistem as opposed to a slip on doesn't know what he's talking about.

a 40 or 42 pilot jet will help with starting. when starting the bike, just pump the gas a couple times at most. then just hit the start button without giving it any more fuel. these carbs have accel pump in them and you will just flood it if you try giving it more gas.
