Just picked up a brand new 88 250R. I'll be posting pics soon. This thing has about 10 hours on it.

FMF pipe and a few other goodies. Its a screamer. Motor has Never been apart and got 170 psi compression.
there ant no way it was abused, thejetting was so off when I got it it was sad. I took care of that issue.
It ripps pretty good now.

I'm thinking the stock basket isnt even grooved yet. I kinda want to pull it and save it for posterity, and
toss in a billet one. Made alot of difference in my 86.

Now the big question.........
Where can I find a new gear to go on the basket??? Once you grind the rivets your done. Is it a shame to
waste a perfectly good basket to cannibalise the gear? Is it bad to put a gear in with more wear on it than
the rest of the motor?

Gonna use the stock clutch pack with heavier springs if I do it.

This thing may end up a 310, Shelve the stock jug.

Service Honda lists all years oem clutch baskets as the same part number and sells them for $177 + shipping/handling.

 

I guess I Will have to just scrap the stocker and cannibalize the gear. Diddnt want to get real spendy.

 

Billet basket is an upgrade any way. I shouldnt feel bad about scrappin the stock one.
