Widen That 450R!
This is a machine that can really benefit from being widened!
Now I am no big fan of wheel spacers. But, I have an excellent set (www.sand-sport.com) of +2" spacers that I use to test what the results will be if I make a bike wider. Well, I threw them on the 450 (using the stock rims/tires). The rear comes in at just over 50", and the front at 47".
The difference it makes in the machine incredible! I can rail around corners and fly through off-camber stuff with impunity. The stock bike has a slight tendency to "wheelbarrow" (pivot on the front inside tire) in tight turns. Well, that is completely gone. If you ride more open trails, fire roads, or open desert, I would highly recommend that you consider doing it.
Widening a bike does however involve big investment! New rear axle (and maybe hubs), a-arms (and maybe hubs), tie rods, brake lines, front shocks, and maybe rims, etc.
