I am getting a new quad soon and cant decide on either a banshee or 400ex. I want a fast quad so that's were the banshee comes in. i also like the 400ex because of its great handling. Is the banshee really that far behind the 400ex when it comes to handling??? ive ridden the 400ex before and i love the way it rides, but its to slow for me. im used to 250s and 125s (dirtbikes for the all out quad people) so i have about 3900 bucks to spend on a used quad and iv seen both for around there (banshees cheaper though) So what do you guys think i should do??
all replies are greatly appreciated.

well I can tell you first hand, I have raced a few years moto X and mostly GNCC on a few banshee's. I have owned 6 or 7 banshee's and must tell you that if your planning on racing, buy the 400!!! a banshee will give you worse armpump than a EX, too much power and arm jerking for GNCC, the 400 has a smooth easy to ride power delivery, MUCH better steering, especially when REALLY flying through the woods! But if your more into climbing hills and raw power buy the banshee, I have given up banshee's (sold mine and bought a 98 cr500) and also have a 00400 ex now and LOVE IT!

buy a 250r it will out run the 400 and out handle the banshee which equals the best of both worlds

Im currntly in the same position but im edging towards the 400,I mostly ride woods and mx and some drags but not alot so i think ill be happy with the 400.What you need to do is ask this in the other forums and maybe youll get a more balanced answer section.Because in honda most people are gonna say 400 and yamaha will say banshee.

First of all I love both machines, but lets look back to Nov. 1998 issue of 4-Wheel ATV Action. Banshee vs 400ex. The Banshee was stock and the 400ex had accessories(Crossbar-free steel bars,FMF MegaMax 2 muffler.) At the dragstrip the race was conducted on gravel;where the Banshee doesn't hook up and the Banshee still beat the 400ex. Conclusion the 400ex doesn't measure up to the Banshee in stock form otherwise ATV Action would of called it down the middle. If you want High-Performance then the Banshee not the 400ex is your choice. ATV Action backs that fact and not fiction statement up 100%.

Let the truth be told...!!!!

If all you do is drag race on gravel roads, then the Banshee is the clear choice. I have a 250R and a Banshee and the 250R is faster in all situations that require any kind of handling. The Banshee is awesome for wide trails that favor sliding and high speeds. If it gets rough, the 250R is best. The 400EX, while down on power, handles almost as good as a 250R. I can muscle a Banshee around because I am a little bigger than most riders, so that is a factor also. Hope this helps a little more than the standard Honda or Yamaha sucks answers that you sometimes get.
