i took my jug to a honda dealership to get my sleeve bored out to fit my 440 piston. the guy said that he didnt think he could bore the sleeve out enough to fit the 89mm piston. isnt stock around 87.5mm? do i need to order another sleeve or take it to another shop. please post feedback i want to get this thing back together

 

he is right. the farthest you can go on the stock sleeve is 88mm (.120 over from stock). stock is 85mm. the 89mm 440 will need a new sleeve. this will involve boring the cylinder to fit a bigger sleeve in too.

 

That's funny. It's the same on a 1600cc bug engine. Except they're 85.5 to begin with, but the biggest you can bore them is 88.
