i just wanted wanted to know how much hp the 450r has because someone claims the polaris predator has 50 hp

 

how fast or how much horsepower? I believe 46-48. Top speed is around 72 mph I have heard, but I haven't ridden one with GPS or radar gun on it.

 

Honda claims they are 42hp stock, and if I remember right, a predator is supposed to have 50. I can keep up with my buddy's piped predator pretty easily, It might even beat him if I could keep the front end on the ground. The top speed may actually be just a tiny bit higher on the 450r. It seemed like I was slowly gaining on him, but its really hard to tell when you're going 75+ down a country road. A predator may have 50cc on the trx, but it also weighs 65 more pounds. either way they're very similar power-wise

 

so if i were to get into racing seriously would the predator or 450r be the better choice

 

What type of racing? Trails-go with a400 honda/kawa/zuki. MX-go with a YFZor 450R, Sand dune-raptor or Banshee, Baja-1000 or long endurance races- 400Ex. Ask yourself what you are going to ride in the most and go with that quad. If you are all pupose riding, find something you are comfortable with and remember there is alot more to a quad than just top end.

 

i want to mx race but i dont know were to start modifying at? should i first invest in suspension and steering or start off supping up the engine and brakes?

 

Buy a quad first and make sure you can handle the thing stock in a tight MX environment before you start messing with suspension/engine/brakes. I raced my 400EX in a MX two weeks ago and that is about all I can handle, the YFZ450/450R is no joke man.

 

in mx racing are there different age groups because im 15 and i really love atv riding and i just wanted to really get involved in the sport because if i do win a couple races i could earn a little money on the side for my quad
