Default needles

ok, i know how to jet the carb. i know how to adjust the air/fuel mixture. but the thing i don't know concerns needles. hmf wants me to put the "needle" in 2nd clip from the bottom..... what does that mean? i'm dreading that i might have to rip off the carb and i really dont want to have to do that.

the needles are accessable from the top of the carb without removing it correct? i bought a service manual (clymer on accident, didn't think to check at the time). also the mixture screw, air/fuel screw, and pilot screw are all the same thing right?

I have not worked on that particular carb, but you will need to take the top off the carb, lift out the slide, and hanging down will be a needle. It is held in place by a clip, and you need to RAISE the needle by moving the clip to the second position.

it is possible to change the needle position without taking out the carb but it is easier just to take it out
