Default white plug?

I have two pics in my gallery of my plug out of my 400EX and the electrode is white..... now that would mean that its too lean correct? how is this so since its stock and i havn't changed anything since i got it? is that any way to make it richer without opening up the carb?

Thanks guys.

Default white plug?

when i adjusted my valves, i decided to just check my plug and it was running white *lean* as well... i didnt hink anything of it and thought that it might of had something to do with the fac that once in awhile i'd run w/o a baffle or, air-box cover. About a 3 days later i kept hearing this rattling get louder and louder and louder.... and i couldnt figure it out. the only clue i had was when i put my hand over my pipe guard *the one to help to prevent burning of your leg* the rattling would stop or quiet down. so i attempted to tighten that guard.... nothing, so i ended up takin it for another ride and i could hear small small backfires... coming from the front. so i checked the pipes where they met the engine, and one of them was extremely lose, .. one bolt was finger lose and the other one was loose w/ a ratchet as well. so i tightened 'em up and it's fine now.

so theory: check your exausts where they meet hte engine, check the 2 bolts that clamp them on to make sure they're tight, even if you dont hear any of the rattling etc. *worth a try*

the best way to see what the true color of your plug and to jet it is ride it kinda hard for about 5 mins then make sure your around were you are ging to take the plug out and just bring it threw all the gears hard i mean make her scream when you get to your last gear and your thumg is still on the thoratal let up on the gas fast and kill it and coast back in make sure you do not i mean do not hit the gas at all after shutting it down it will spray gas into the combustion chanber and chang the plug color that is how you see wheather or not you are runngin to rich thats when you have to much gas to little air white is when you have to little gas and to much air golden brown kinda like cardboard is perfect if pops when you let off the gas at all and your top end isnt radeling that means that your idle jet is to lean and what that is is when you let of the gas it kinda monitors the flow of gas going into the combustion chamber and that ajust ment is in the fron of the carb near the motor right under were the carb goes into the rubber pieac of the motor turnn it eather way try it if it gets a little bit beter turn it some more if it gets worse turn it the other way if you have any other ? just ask im a honda freak as well as a atv freak in genral
