If I go to higher tire on back 22x11x9 rear - Ive heard you have to change gearing/sprockets...

How much? what if you dont. Is it better to stay with 20x11x9 instead

Im looking at RazR-Holeshot-Pure Sports ?? Any comments welcome.

Thanks

I use a 13/39 combination for the XCT's in my 400 EX and it pulls as if I were using a 20" tire.

Ifound that going to 20" Bandits from the 22"stock tires I had geared down substantially. Since I didn't want that I went one tooth larger on the c/s which returned the gearing to more or less stock. I since have gone to a 15t c/s on my Warrior for higher gearing.

RVonsand,
I just bought new tires for my Scrambler. (Holeshots) I stayed with the stock sizes. I could have dropped sizes & changed gearing I guess, but I didn't want to lose the ground clearance. My brother had a 400EX & he got hung-up a couple times on the stock tires where I didn't. If you mostly trailride the taller tires are an advantage & you can make up the difference with gear changes.

I had put on a set of 22's and I dropped one tooth on the front sprocket, which mostly compensated for the bigger tire. But to answer you, no you don't HAVE to change anything but you will notice a drop off in power.

I put a set of holeshots all the way around. I put 23" xct's on front and 20" xc on rear. The fronts give me a little more ground clearance. I just like the 20" better they are lighter than the 22" xct's. They already hook-up good, I didn't want the extra side bite.
