Dissapointed in the 450r
#12
I've ridden a 450R and a YFZ. I can tell you all now, if I had the money the 450R would be the bike to own. The kick start is a bit awkward (why does honda insist on making a NON natural kick start motion is beyond me) but defintely liked it more than a YFZ. I raced a 450R with my Raptor and out of the hole blew his doors off, but after about 150FT.. he caught up to me and passed. I have a 01 Raptor with a one tooth less front sprocket. Perhaps that is why he beat me. The Rappy was also giving me a few carb problems but out of the 3 races... the result was the same. 150ft-ish he got me.

My profile hasn't been changed in a long time, but i do have a 450r. I honestly question if you are kidding me when you say that all the 450r has on a 400ex is torque. My last quad was a piped and filtered 400ex and it did not even come close to my 450r, at all. Either you are a terrible driver, their is something gone wrong on that quad, or the predator is modded, because the r should be able to take a predator. I have heard to many tales about the 450r stock for stock whooping the pred to believe that, some stories say that they at least stay side by side, but not leave the 450r behind.....

I've seen a Predator and 450R race once on asphalt and the 450R won. The Predator does have a killer top end though. Makes you wander how an 05 TLE Predator is going to run with the close ratio tranny...................

The 450R and the Predator were bone stock. I been riding atv's for 13 years. I know how to ride just as good or better than the experienced rider.
And like i said. Stock for Stock. There were dead even, when we shifted in 3rd the Pred ran away. The Pred didnt have a problem. I think the 450r is a bunch of hype. Not worth the money if you ask me.
Next time i'll video it for you none believers. The Pred beat the 450r with ease!

LOL, a 400ex tears a piped and jetted Raptor up, Yea Right. A built 400ex would have a hard time keeping up with a piped and jetted one. Stock for Stock the Raptor kills it

Bottom end, my 400ex pulls a good distance ahead from the Raptor, the raptor catches up though.. but doesnt KILL it by any means.
Im not lieing, we raced a dozen times, switched quads, still the 400ex takes it off the line.
I openly admit the raptor will beat it top end, no problem. but the 400ex does in fact take it from the line.

WHy would you even care about a drag race with a quad thats ment for motocross. In all the tracks that ive raced at or been to i dont think ive ever seen a 300 ft straight stretch. if you really want a drag race then buy a ds650, banshee, or raptor, maybe even a pred, if your into that kind of stuff anyway. If i wanted to drag race i would just find somway to drop a chevy 572 into some sort of quad frame and show everyone who has the ***** in this family!
