i am purchasing some 450r front shocks for my z400 soon and i am wondering how the stock front shocks are, i know they will be an improvment over z400 stock shocks. are the front shocks plush?? how easy do they bottom out?

I will bet they are all wrong for your Z. They are actually pretty stiff, at least at the stock setting. They don't have a lot of adjustment either.

 

I put some 450R fronts on my 400EX and so far they feel much better than the stock ones, although I have only ridden with them once and that was on a track I have never been on before. I did case a big double and and bottomed out both the fronts and the rear shocks, but I suspected I would. I will be going to a more familiar riding area tonight which has a big single that gave me troubles with the stock front shocks.. I'll let you know how it goes.

BTW, The 450R fronts that I bought were revalved by TCS for a 200LB recreational rider.

450R shocks are good and the best ive seen come from an OEM. I made a couple clicks of adjustment and it made alot of difference. Very sensitive, IMO.

But back to the original thread - 450R shocks - why get 450R shocks for a z400? get elkas or the '05 shocks that suzuki is putting on the z400 now.

 

The 05 suzuki shocks appear to be the same as the YFZ... which arent the greatest[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]
