Default Is the 400ex enough?

I am looking at buying my first quad. I couldnt find a post with what I was looking for. So I am asking you guys, or specfically the BIG guys. I am 6'3'' 300lb man. I have been looking at the 400EX, I checked them out this weekend and I fit on it, but I want to know if it will be enough power for trail ridding? No races for me, just weekend fun.

I'm 6'2" 225 and its plenty fast on the trails. The dunes, maybe a little underpowered but I haven't found a dune I couldn't get up. Now that I htink about it though, the user manual says it has a maximum capacity of 240 or 250lbs. I can't remember which one.

im about the same "dimensions" as you and i find it great. it's got enough power for trails stock IMO but could use a pipe/filter combo to help it along a little

I am 6'1" and I have always felt that my 400ex was a little small. Have you considered the dimensions of a Polaris Predator or Bombardier DS650? Both machines I have ridden extensively and enjoyed their handling characteristics in the dunes and on trails. The Predator this year also comes with reverse which would be ideal for trail riding.

You might like it at first, but shortly after (couple of months) you will probably want more power. I would personally get something a little less archaic.

Guys, thanks for all the responses. I really appreciate all your thoughts since this will be my first quad. I am going to look at a Predator 500. Just a quick question, What's a DS?
