Like I said before, the pilot JET is in the right in your picture and has the number stamped on it and DOESN'T have the spring.

I take it that the pipe your talking about is the HMF slip on in you bio. The informantion I gave you about the pilot screw adjustment was from the HMF web site. You might want to go to their site. Here is their recomandation for jetting, and carb setting for their pipes.

400EX Slip On

Main Jets: 165/170 Keihin Hex Head

Modifications: Needle in the second clip position from the bottom. 3 turn out on the air fuel mixture screw

Man, that sounds really rich! I have a 40pj with the clip in the 4th slot (from the top) and only have the air/fuel mixture (pilot SCREW) out 2 turns but it runs great. I tried 2 1/4 turns and it bogged, coughed and sputtered at low RPMs. I have a PC T4 though and not a HMF but would it be THAT much different?

the air/fuel mixture screw is right behind the idle adjustment bracket. Yes you will have to remove the bowl to get at the pilot screw.

i asked a guy at hmf about them recommending something so rich, and they told me it was cause they didnt know the 04 carbs were 38mm.

i put in the 42 pilot jet, 152 main jet, no air box lid, and 2 1/2 turns out on the screw and the thing was pulling wheelies on my without even trying. she's rips.

thanks to all you guys for puting up with me
