Default how many hours before first service on Honda rancher?

I own Kawi Prairies and Brute Forces, these call for the first service to be preformed at 10 hours. My father bought a new honda rancher 4x4 and the dealer told him 100 hours or 500 miles before the first service. Does this sound right?

thanks for the info
jerry

I change my oil and filter on a new bike after 1-2 hrs. (you will find lots of metal shavings!), then again at 10 and 20 hrs. I live in dusty country, so my routine oil changes are at about every 20 hrs.

Your owners manual recommends the first service at 20 hrs., then routine service every 100 hrs. (which is way to long in my opinion).

I learned the hard way! I have had bikes (the Warrior in particular), where I found a good size pile of metal shavings in the oil filter on that first oil change! Get that stuff out of there as soon as you can, then change it again at 10 hrs. to be sure you get anything that was missed the first time.
