Get a 340,380 kit w/ a racing cam and valves, this will definately increase your speed to put any 250R w/ pipes only. That should cost around 1500 including maintenance. You can get a carb and port/polish to top it off. Pipes help a lot too aswell as a k&n filter. Good Luck

Hey Bigair, I was born in Franklin & raised in Knox, just down the road from you. You have a Honda dealer real close, too. You are fortunate to have as nice a bike as a 300EX, especially at your age. As to mods, I would just go with a good aftermarket pipe, a K & N filter, and if your not into too much water & mud, remove the lid on the airbox(or drill some holes in the top to let in more air). Of course you will have to rejet a couple sizes bigger on the main jet. The pipe manufacturer can usually supply info on jetting for their pipes, with or without low restriction filter. Friend of mine did this to his 300Ex & it was a considerable improvement for the bucks. Any other mods (cam, bored cylinders, etc.), get into some big bucks and more reliability risks. Was just in Pa last weekend for family reunion - some really good riding up there! Good Luck!

You can easily drop in a high compression piston and a cam with no machine work. All you would need would be a manual and some mechanical skills to do it yourself.

I assume you guys are talking about Northgate right there on 19. 5 of my friends (including myself) bought 5 400EX's off of Joe (owner) within a month period. Seems to be a very good shop.
