they claim the x-rings are better. they say they are supposed to hold in the oil better and thus having less resistance. i don't know, some of the x-rings may be stronger too. i just purchased an x-ring and i am really pleased with it. however, i never had a problem with my 0-ring either. before i bought this x-ring, i contacted a few engine builders and everyone i talked to recommended the DID x-ring. so, this is what i bought.
