I don't have my manual here, and I was looking to find out how much gear oil I should put in the front differential? I know on the back you fill it till it comes out the weep hole, but I don't think it's the same for the front. I will enjoy a cold beer or 2 until I find out, then head back out to the garage!

Oh, and while I have you, how much is a rear shock? Mine has NO resistance and bounces like 5 times when pressed down. Just noticed that now [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

Owners manual says 2.9 oz. REAR, and 8.2 oz. FRONT. I put in just slightly over those amounts, then ride the bike for a minute to let the oil distribute itself completely. Then I park it and open the check bolt holes and let the slight excess drain off.

I measured it when I put it in and I have roughly 9 oz in there right now, so I should be ok.

 

It's a good idea, if you're not sure exactly what's in there, to warm it up a little, then park it somewhere level, remove the fill cover and then have a few brews, the right amount will be what's left in there, assuming some drained out, if nothing came out, add a bit until it does, then have a few more beer. I think you'll like this approach, I do..

 

I will not turn a wrench unless I have a beer, so yes, I love your approach!!
