Best price for Rancher 400AT?
#1
Hey guys. I"m pretty sure I want to get a rancher 400AT, or a kodiak 450. I'm still trying to compare the two for my second quad. What do people feel is the better choice for a small woman rider?
More importantly, what did you guys pay for your rancher 400at's before tax?
Is there a source online that sells extended warranties cheap like there is for kawasaki?

Go to ebay and lookup warranty info. I bought mine from Pro Motorsports, I think that is the name, out of Fond du Lac, WI. If they are not on ebay look them up as a dealer on the Honda website.
I like my AT. Nice size, decent power, good 4 wheel drive, unbelievable EBS, STABLE. My wife will not drive my tractor in my yard, it scares her, but she will ride the AT all over. It is a nice quad. Never rode a Kodiak but the tipping issue in reviews scares me a little. My AT is as stable on a hill as anything. Although she may like the IRS of a Kodiak.
Price? Who knows. I bought the first one at the dealer last year. I paid too much, but I didn't want to wait.
Good Luck.

53-54mph is what I get. But the road better be straight and smooth.
Problems? Well the first few have a recall for the ECM module(2004's). It didn't shift down fast enough in the mud. I personaly have never had that problem, but I am not a mudder. I have not had mine replaced yet. It runs fine. I almost afraid to mess with it. The new ones are fine.
Lightman. this quad is not the most powerful quad in its class. Just remember that. Many people on here and other forums complain that it is underpowered. IS it? aaaaahhhhh, maybe. In auto it seems to need more power, always just enough power for what you are doing, never too much. In ESP mode the quad is much more fun. Alot more power. I have not ridden many other new quads so it is hard for me to compare the power to others.
You have a hard choice. If the Kodiak had IRS last year I might have been riding one now. I think your lady would like the AT. That EBS is amazing and it is nice not to worry about my wife using the the brakes alot when going down some semi-steep hills. The EBS takes care of that for her. And stability on the hills? If you roll this, you should have never been there in the first place. It holds the hills great.

Now I've heard a few people mention the power as 'decent' or as yoda says, not the best in it's class. I'm starting to worry the thing is a dog...? What's the most powerful in it's class?
I wasn't aware the kodiak450 had IRS...sounds like that's new this year...how has it worked so far? Are they reliable? I really don't like that the rancher has old school drum brakes either.
