I'm still having a hard time believing a Cobra is the fastest car made stock in the quarter mile. Out of all the times I have read and talked to people about THE yenko/sc 427 l72 nova it was written to go 0-60 in 4 seconds and run 11 second 1/4 miles. Call up a muscle car
magazine that has done articles on it and look it up on the web or call Yenko yourselves if possible.

ACtually the Cobra does handle exrtmely well. One good thing the Cobra did for chevy is , Was raise the bar for power and lowering the price for performance. So more people could afford the high perfor. corvette.
Also i car that you can get for about the same price as the Z06 is the Mercades S55. That things a f#cking monster, creating over 440hp . And its a 5 passenger car the will run in the very low 13. SWEET.

the porsche SUV cheyenne Turbo is another monster...its faster than the boxter, even though its a decent sized SUV

With all this Ford talk, I am surprised no one has mentioned the new GT(not a mustang). Im not to big on ford but that is BAD! The only bad part is that it is 100g's or something.
And BTW, Mustangs do not handle well do to the fact that it is short and narrow, to squirrely, they will never be a tack car.

Have you all forgotten about the 2000 Cobra R? u kno the fastest production mustang ever made. 385hp 5.8 rocketed this thing to the 1/4 in 12.1sec! with a top speed of 185mph and lateral upwards of 1g, this is the z06 killer with only 300 made. Actually the new 03cobra has IRS and handles very well. the z06 was only 20hp over the base 385hp c5's. we can sit here and argue about these cars all day the cobra has a s/c but the vette has a bigger motor but the cobra is heavier and so on.....fact is ive seen cobras take z06's at the drag strip and ive seen z06's take cobras at the drag strip its all on the driver when it comes down to these 2 cars. why pay 60k for a z06 when u can get a saleen s281E for the same price and have a low 12sec car and better looking (way better imo). Or a stage 3 Roush or 380R and walk all over a z06 on the track and the strip. One of times I went to the drags I saw an srt-10 there and got all excited about this ''13sec'' truck, I saw it run against a lighting and was VERY disappointed! the srt-10 ran a 14.sumthing while the lightning ran a 12.sumthing. Every srt-10 ive seen has never ran under a 14.5, I guess 500hp is too much for most guys in a truck...its sad really to see a s/c385hp v-8 beating a 8.3l v-10. I was reading that SVT is planning on using the GT s/c set up in their 06cobra and should easily produce over 500hp!
