OOPS! I guess you've been to that site.

It's funny that I read the article right before Rob replied.

Hey I think I've seen that somewhere before.

Actually I replied a few hours ago then just noticed I had a forum error. I added the last part about the KQ. Even thought my rancher is a 2002 model and the KQ is a 1999 model(with few overall upgrades over the years, 99 mainly got a plastic upgrade), the KQ has a lot of features I wish the rancher had. hi/lo range, easier reverse, speedo and odometer to name a couple. Even simple stuff like a thumb choke lever (however not needed on the KQ). I always have to choke the rancher after sitting a week. Also the plastic on the rancher is loose as a goose, nothing but plastic rivots. Tight on the KQ with only the mud flaps held on by rivots. I only have about 1400 miles on my KQ but she's tight as a drum.

all that said I still like the rancher. Thought about getting another KQ but I was looking for more power without paying an arm and a leg. Also without going to the BIG atv's. These things are just getting bigger and bigger.

robnhouston, easier reverse for the Rancher is easily achieved! With mine, I pushed the red button down, pulled back the brake lever, and put a zip tie on the reverse cable to keep it from going back into place. That way I just go down to neutral and down again to reverse, no buttons or levers! I'm guessing you already know this by the looks of the mods you have done to your bike...

Thanks for reply's. It sure looks that since a 329cc Rancher and a 433cc Foreman get along nicely without a high/low then there shouldn't be much need for one on the new 475cc Foreman. I also agree with robnhouston that if you have a high/low there will be times when you can find a convienent use for the extra gears. But being a died in the wool Honda fan, that doesn't seem like a good enough reason to look any farther at the Suzuki Vinson.

Hey Ranchers01....I have never thought of doing that to my reverse button. It would definitely help in situations like plowing the driveway. I am going to give it a try....Thanks for the tip.

I don't plow, but when I'm stuckin the mud, trying to work the gas, the winch, shifter, and reverse button it gets annoying. Just one less thing to worry about.

I've had mine set up like that for about 6 months now with no side effects.
