If you do a lot of slow rocky type trails then the Banshee is NOT for you. The low end power is no big deal but the Banshee overheats too easily in those conditions. I don't do much mudding but I would think there would be little difference between the 400EX and Banshee since they have similar ground clearance. If your trails let you stay above about 10 MPH most of the time then the Banshee isn't bad at all. There is no comparison when you want to let it rip...

yeah most of the trails are over 10mph. But my dad and I go up to this trail in Warn county called rocky gap and man does it live up to its name nothin but rocks.
Theres this one hillclimb that its pretty steep and rocks everywhere small, little u name it its there. I had to take my neighbors blaster up over twice so I think I might be able to handle a banshee. (My neighbor is like 40 and I'm 14 He just graduated from a 185cc 3-wheeler)lol.
With an fmf torque pipe or any pipe give alot of low end for trails? Thanks,,,

oh yeah almost forgot how could u correct its over heating problem?

The step-up from a Blaster to a Banshee is alot more than you think! It's kinda like going from a LT80 to a Blaster. I'm not saying you can't handle a Banshee, just try one out before you buy one. Like I said earlier, if you're not out tapping 6th gear, and you're riding rocks and that stuff and you really don't understand a Banshee, don't get one. I've seen a Banshee fry a clutch clear out trying to go up a jeep trail (maybe that's why we carry "Yamaha ropes").

I'm a recent banshee owner. Personally, mud isn't my thing. But I had the unfortunate opportunity to find it's capabilities in the mud once when some friends went down a trail they thought was good but didn't check it out first. They had Polarises. If you're riding with people, and they're slow-mudding, then you really dont' stand any chance, because to get the banshee torque, you need rpms, which won't come at extremely low speeds. However, If you're all rolling through it at a good clip, and it's not this great, gooey, 4x4 mudd, then the banshee creates some good torque, you just gotta fly! I bet slow, rocky stuff really sucks if you do it for fun! I don't wanna do it!

Hope this helps,

Jason

i know about the rocky gap trails... put it this way dude, unless your a 2 stroke expert (10 years on a banshee or 250cc motocross bike 2 stroke) your gonna kill yourself on a banshee, especially up rocky hillclimbs... the 400 is easier to learn on, and more quad than a blaster, and it is fast enough for what your talking about.

Maybe you should look into a recon, or 300ex. Your not good because you rode a blaster twice.

Dude when did I say I only rode twice I have a trailblazer. before I had a 230 quadsport and before that I had a kawi. 220 bayou. So I have rode for a while probebly 6 years ever since 3rd grade so I think I can ride. And about rocky gap I only go up about once a year. So it really doesn't matter. And about the blaster I rode it several times we hit the hard trail twice I took it up the hill twice because my neighbor is a duffus and cant ride. I ride about everyday and consider myself a good rider. I've rode a 400ex before but I really don't like 4-strokes. I'd rather get a 2-stroke.

Even with a coolhead a liquid cooled NON-fan-assisted engine is going to overheat.... That rocky gap doesn't sound like a Banshee trail. For woods and sand I use a smaller front sprocket and that helps with the torque. 2 into 1 pipes and/or 2 into 1 carbs help with low end torque but no 2 stroke will have the low end of a 4 stroke, though.

If you'd rather have a 2-stroke than a 4, go ahead and try the Banshee. Try before you buy. Try a few others also, like a 250R or a LT250r. You might find they have enough power, etc. for you. There are a lot of Banshees around and just because I don't care for them doesn't mean you won't, but be sure you're really for one. Banshees are really great in the dunes where horsepower and rpm's are the name of the game, but I ride dirt a few times a year also and my 250R performs very well in dirt and rocks. They may be another option for you.

trailblazer:

Hate to brake your heart, but a trailblazer is an e-ton 50 compared to the banshee..

Banshee is the best quad for the dunes... 400 is great in the woods.

If you do get a banshee and ride in the woods, you'll probably foul a lot of plugs. You'll have to do alot more maintance too.

the 400 is probably the best machine for you, however if you ride in tighter trails a 300 might be an option.

remember ride whatever your looking at before you get it. Ride it in the conditions you will be riding it in
