The Bayou 220 is no match for a Recon. I've since lots of repair problems with the Bayou too. The rear brake drum warps after getting too wet, and the starter solenoid is junk after a year or so. We had one bad Recon which was abused the guy never checked his rear end fluid and drove it through lots of salt water and mud. We had to replace the main bearing.

Get the recon! A friend just picked up a rancher and had his sons bayou on the trailer and told me to ride it so nonoe messes with it while out for a short ride. I logged 2 hours of full throttle use on the little thing, and I am 24 years old! My only complaints were that the steering was all over the road when pinned down the gravel flats, just a sneeze would send the thing all over the place, and the semi indpendent rear suspention was scary as heck when I did a hill climb and ran out of power.. almost fliped over when sideways on the hill due to the suspention letting the quad lean. fun quad, but Id pick the recon in a heartbeat

i have owned a bayou 220. not sure if i was going to like atving. i just traded my 2000 bayou (4 mo old)for a 2001 Lokata sport and had I known I would have spent the extra money on a sport right away. The Lakota has more power and way better suspension. disc brakes are fantastic!
I have learned how much fun this sport can be!
