I have a 04 Rancher with about 50 miles on it, but right after i bought it and put just a couple hours on it, I noticed a slight rod knock or similar noise coming from the lower part of the engine. I was wondering if any of you may have noticed the same thing or if this is common or normal? any info would be appreciated...

 

Might try changing to a better/different grade of fuel and see if that helps. Otherwise simple...take it back.

Check the oil level. Is the idle speed, too low? Sometimes that causes a knocking sound.
