Can I build a 330r?
#1
I was checkin out one of my older DW issues and there was an article about CT 265 and 330r's. I always thought it would be awesome to have one and I was wondering exactly how realistic it is to think of building one. I would probably go 90% aftermarket; frame, as much of the motor that can be aftermarket, axles, steering components, a-arms, swingarm, suspension, plastics, and on down the line. What exactly CANT I get from the aftermarket? I'm assuming that the bottom half of the motor and probably the tranny are the only main things I cant get. How much would it cost me to get them stock from Honda? (if they still make them) If I cant get them there, is there any way to get them other than buying a beat up old R for 2k or more just for those parts, then throwing away everything else, thereby wasting a bunch of cash? Obviously this would be a 10k+ project, so it wouldn't be happening any time soon, but I'm just curious if I'm out of my mind or not.

Thanks Jazz, I've been looking around there for some prices of OEM parts. They have pretty much everything, but its just kinda confusing to navigate their parts list, they don't list complete assemblies.

TO be honest I think that you would be better off gettin a 250r in rougher shape for 1500-2000 dollars, and then goin for there. Ebay will be your freind on a project like this, alot of the parts you will need will be on there and the OEM parts you replaced can be sold on ebay. and you can get the motor right, and have a ride but worry about the aftermarket chassis and compenents later when more cash is there to be spent.
