The new Rubicon has selectable 2wd/4wd (TraxLok), so that shouldn't be an issue.

Take a good look at the new Foreman 475 (the old 450 they mentioned above has been discontinued). Same dimensions as the Rubicon, but with a redesigned frame, and TraxLok. Best thing is a nice simple reliable manual transmission! If you don't want to shift with your foot, get the ES with electric shift. I need another 4X4, and this machine is looking pretty good to me!

Hey guys, do those of you who have rincons think they dont have engine braking below 8 mph..... this is a half truth. If you stop going down a hill they will free wheel down the hill this can be dangerous if you have never ridden this rig. The half truth to this matter is this, it has nothing to do with 8 mph... it has everything to do with engaging the transmission. Honda set up the Rincon to disengage when stopped so the machine doesn't creep away. If your approaching a hill(decending) and have the 4 wheeler under even the slightest throttle it will engine brake. Now if you stop half way down the hill and let the engine idle and let off the brake it will "freewheel" just like nuetral on a dirtbike. HOWEVER (to those inexperienced and unknowledgeable) If while holding the brake you slightly squeeze the throttle enough to feel the atv start to pull forward and then let off of the brake and then just as quickly the throttle it will engine brake safely to the bottom of the hill. I know this for a fact as I have an 05 and my bro-in-law has an 04. This is not rocketscience boys you just have to learn how your bike works... everyone has plus's and minus's. What works for one may not work for the other. Find one you like and are comfortable with it and go have fun but learn your machine and know what it can and cannot do. There are tricks with every bike to make it work in those hairy situations its just finding out thats the trick and the fun of it. Also that is the best thing about forums like these is you can talk to other riders with a greater insight to your machine specifically. Ride hard but be safe and happy motoring!!!

Interesting post!

Hope you don't mind I'm gonna drill you w/some basic questions - K.

You said you have an 05 rincon and bro-inlaw has an 04, is there any changes at all between the 2004 rincon and the 2005 rincon?

Does the rincon have troubles driving slow "chugging" do you find the macine to perform better w/the ES or the automatic? Is it faster in 2wd or 4wd? A friend said the machines (specifically the racnher AT) were sometimes faster in 4wd... - (as bizarre as that may sound...)

Would you buy another Rincon if you had the oppurtunity to do it all over again?

Thanks,

Phil

are you kidding?? honeltly dude u have to figure weight and wheelbase into this also.just because it has more CCs doesnt mean anything. my 250 with my *** on it can pull just as much as the ol' polaris in its low gear... think before you talk

Thank you for setting him straight Polaris500HO4x4. I really hate when people don't realize that they are wrong and they act like they know what they are talking about.

mudblaster, the rubicon is 500 bucks cheaper not 1500 so you dont know what your talikng about. and learn how to spell. and yeah i know its nice to have engine braking but thats not a big deal, thats why they give you brakes. the rincon is way better

Actually the price difference IS closer to $1500 because most dealers, at least all of the ones that I have seen, are far below the MSRP. Oh yeah I almost forgot..., make sure you proofread your own sentence for errors before you criticize others you jackass. *talking* *don't* *you're* *it's* *that's*x2

I am sorry if I missed any errors, but these were so obvious that even a third-grade student would be able to notice them.

You truly are an *** Baretread.

Hey Polaris500HO4x4,

I love the truck in your picture file. Who did the custom paint? Chevy power all the way.
