rancher 400AT class

I think you made the very best choice for a machine of that Size. 450 Kodiak is a great machine with lots of features. I had a 400 At Honda and it was underpowered and slow. It lacked low gear and the electronic shifting was a waste. The GPS, well, just buy a good aftermarket model for a couple of hundred dollars and you really have a GPS, forget the integrated one on the bike. And what about the ground clearance and those small tires.
It was real scary taking it up to top speed(48-49MPH). Engine was not made for it.
I was wondering what kind of market Honda was making these for. Must be for farmers who take the occaisional trail ride.
450 Kodiak is a great trail bike and reliable as hell. My honda was in the shop a couple of times(5-6 WEEKS) due to factory defects.
One thing though, it had a soft comfortable ride and great engine breaking and I know a lot of people who like them. They surely have not tried some of the better machines in the class though. You got the best one!

One thing I cant figure out is why the rancher and a few other atvs out there define themselves as a utility atv and yet dont have a low range. You would think that a low gear would be a standard defining thing on a ute. Yamaha is really aggravating in that respect, when it comes to low range its now see it and now you dont. One thing I will say for Honda, it takes forever for them to get with the program, but once they do, they do it better than anyone else.
