Daranello75 have you ever driven one? I had an old 250 odyssy and it just killed my back!!!! They were very crude machines.
I wondered about the Pilot? They seemed light years ahead of my 250. With IRS and reverse and many other nice stuff. If they are easy on my back I wouldn't mind getting one when I get some money. Can anybody else speak on these things? Are they good for tight trails? I know they were rare, and expensive for the time. I also remember Honda wanted their dealers to become Pilot dealers!!! Some high cost license to become a Pilot dealer even though they were already Honda dealers.

No I never rode one, in 1990 I was trying to convince my mom to let me buy one because they were safe (i was only 15 at the time) at the time ATV and 3 Wheelers were dangerus to most mothers.
I can belive the resale value on the pilots, guys want $7500 for them, How much were they new?

$6,500 to $7,500 sticks in my mind, but that was along time ago and I could be way off? This was in US dollars also. Like I said, they are rare because they were VERY expensive for the time and Honda did not sell very many of them because of the cost and the stupid license deal. I agree with you, they look like a lot of fun.

they were around $5K to alittle more down here. remember, most quads could be had for $25-2700 brand new back then. my warrior was 26-2700. when we switched to banshees we got them for a little over 3K, brand new.
an '88 250R listed for $3098 back then (the 89 model was 4098) and the pilot was nearly 2K above the 88 R price. nonetheless, the pilot was veiwed way out of reach for most of us. who would have thought back then we would be averaging over $5500 for a new quad today when the technology really hasnt changed THAT much (there have been several advances but nothing groundbreakingly phenomenal)? and even paying 6-7k for a new bike?
the pilot was ahead of its time. i really wouldnt mind having one.

I rode one. It was fun, it was all stock. If you landed flat off a jump it was kinda hard on the back. It has a good harness to keep you in the seat so there was no get ready for this jump and stand a little, it was hard getting used to that. I would love to have one. IF you go to atv trader or cycle trader I cant remember, but they some times have some for sale in there.
