2004 Honda Rancher Problems
#1
Hello,
I haven't really had any problems with my Honda until just about an hour ago. I went outside and started my Honda to go to work and it seems like it wants to die all the time. I have tried adjusting the idle and that doesn't work, i made sure it has gas and oil also, and even with the choke on it sounds like a bubbly noise like there is water or something mixed in with the gas. I am in real need of some help since this is my first Honda and I only know basic fixes not mechanical ones. Also I am new to this site so I would like to say hi to everyone and thanks for any help you can give me.

Repeated warming during the day, and then cooling at night, will cause condensation in your fuel tank. If you suspect fuel contamination, it's a pretty simple matter to pull the tank off and give it a good flush.

I noticed you live in Alaska, you should treat your gas with fuel-sabil. This is a fuel stabilizer that helps keep your gas fresh and prevents gumming of the fuel in your carb. Like reconranger said first change your gas, if this doesn't work, run some carb cleaner through the system. Remeber when all is good add fuel stabil.

Thanks for the tip. I changed my oil today to the Chevron Supreme 5w/30 and everything seems to be back to normal from yesterdays problem. But still a new problem arises. When I take it out of neutral and start to go, there is a squeal type of noise but it stops after you get to about third gear or so. My friend thinks it is something with the brakes warming up or something. Any suggestions on this one?

I replied to your other post about "gear case oil". It occurs to me now that you may have been refering to your differentials, and not your engine??? I see you said you did change your motor/transmission oil (and filter I hope). Be sure that oil you used is motorcycle specific, and not car oil.

i dont know if it has anything to do with the noise your four wheeler is making but you put the wrong oil in you should use 10w40 or 10w50. i dont know about chevron but i use 5w30 in my ford ranger. it is energy conserving. and has modifiers in it that may be your clutch sliping.
