i have a honda 5.5 on my wood splitter and it kinda sputters i dont know how to explain it... it idles slow then u can see the governor open then it runs back up really high and then back slow again? is there too much pressure in the hydrolics or are the jets dirty

 

The gas could be old, or theres crud or water in the float bowl. Air filter could be plugged, or even a bad spark plug could do this. Most likely the gas has deteriorated, and lost its volitility or has plugged up a small passage in the carb.

 

i know the spark plug and air filter are both good yet i guess ill have to tear into the carb then thanks for the reply man
