Rancher - Blown accessory plug fuse
#1
Just to give ya'll a heads up .. so far my cellphone and gps have worked fine in the accessory plug, but I tried using an air compressor to pump a buddy's tire and blew the fuse after two or three minutes.
Not a biggie, but you might want to try yours and see how long it will work before it blows.
There is an extra fuse in the fuse box.
I need to get another replacement, so I can see how long it WILL actually run before it blows again. Maybe it was a defective fuse. I dunno yet.
Aside from pulling loose plastic fender rivits riding tough terrain, after 500 miles and almost 80 hours, this is the only inconvenience I've had.

I had the same problem after pumping up my buddy's tire a few times to get him back to the trucks. I think a 10 amp. fuse is probably a bit too small for the air compressor. So,if and when, any of you look at a portable compressor check the amp rating of the unit. If it's less than 10 amps it should be ok. I would not recommend installing a larger fuse though. Could be a big problem for your electrical system.

I wouldn't worry about the electrical system--we tie a 100-plus amp winch to it; why worry about a 10-amp compressor? Heavier wiring/fusing may be necessary, however, in the auxiliary accessory circuit to handle higher-current accessories.
Running just headlights and an auxilary "work light," the 30-amp fuse blew on my brand new ATV when started; the fuses may not always carry their rated current successfully; also, the fuses suffer heavy G-loads in ATV appliations that may affect their durability.

I had the same problem when I was blowing up me rubber boat. The sollution I found was not to increase the fuse amps but to increase my iddle speed when using the air compressor. Via the iddle adjustment screw it's on the right side of the carb. it's black and upside down.

LOL im cracking up, that sounded so funny, blowing up your rubber boat
Well anyway, I pumped up alot of tires with my compressor and havent had any problems, could be a smaller compressor though.

Ride HARD.
PS: I allways loose those plastic rivits, but they are cheap
