rubicon mpg ?

According to their site (http://www.hondamotorcycle.com/model...umber=TRX500FA) it only has a 3.7 gallon tank and this INCLUDES the reserve. I guess I will try to calculate this weekend.

Just ran a complete tank out yesterday, doing mixed running . . . a little high end, most on the trails. 56 miles until a mandatory switch to the reserve. Looks like about 20 MPG, or a little less, to me. Just like an auto, a lot has to do with operating style, but it looks like the 20 number should be average.

I don’t own a Rubicon but I know it has different modes, one for pull and another for speed and also one where the operator adjusts engine speed relative to wheel speed.
The transmission optimization mode has got to make a difference on MPG. The operator will have some control over fuel consumption, more so than other autos. I am disappointed in the small fuel tank though. Lets say you are operating in really bad conditions and the speed is slow and the engine is working a little. You might get about 10 MPG and about a 35 mile range, not good…

The fuel tank is too small. For long day trips, a 3 gallon fuel pack on the back rack has proven to be a necessity. You can purchase them through www.cabelas.com.
