Fine, Fine you win..

http://www.bitlaw.com/internet/webpage.html

Copyright concerns when creating a web site. A party is guilty of copyright infringement if they violate one of the five exclusive rights given to copyright owners under the Copyright Act. Included in those rights are the right to prevent others from reproducing (or copying) a work, publicly displaying a work, or distributing a work. As a result, web page authors should take care not to copy the work of others. An Internet service provider can also be found liable for copyright infringement even when they are not directly engaged in the copying of protected materials, as is explained in more detail in the BitLaw section on ISP liability.

Something smells around here...

Dear public,
Please compare the website of Mr. Skunky to my own website.

Skunky- www.davesquadshop.com
Phil - www.uslink.net/~philzie

He has download all of my pictures, html code, animations, text, articles, etc. renamed/re-linked them, and claimed them as his "web site". This is soo unbeleivably un-cool. I can't believe it. Some people have swiped my pics, and that is fine with me. But, Mr. Skunky has stolen nearly ALL of my work, then defaced it, and proceeded to claim it as his own.
I have emailed him personally, and demanded the removal of my content from his domain/site. He has basically ignored me, now he claims he owns MY SITE.

I would very much like to see some public opinion on this situation. Please help me explain to Mr. Skunky that his plageristic actions are unwelcome and un-appreciated.

Also, I could use some direction to information pertaining to copyright infringement. I have been under the assumtion that any art or media created by a person is that person's intellectual property, unless formally released to the public domain. I have refrained from installing those annoying copyright notices all over everything on my site, as they detract from what I feel is an artistic expression.

I am sorry to bring this whining session to the open. I have spent hundreds of hours creating everything pertaining to my website. Suddenly it is claimed by someone who has no right to claim it as their own.

Sincerely,
Philip Moore

Skunky,

How did you attach the starter to the frame? Did you just screw it on like it was mounted on the handlebars?

Why do you think we had to re-adjust our clutch cables after installing new a new perch/lever?

I don't know if your's is like this, but when I pull in my clutch, it engages after the first half of the pull. It grabs just fine for clean shifts and everything but I don't know why it is like that.

The credit didn't show up until I started whining about it.

It would have been just as easy to take only the TRX page, and change the names in the code to match your image files. You need not have stolen my entire site, renamed all the images, changed the links to your server, and posted it.

Thank you for removing most of the links. I am looking forward to seeing your personal touches to the site. I know how much time, effort and money it takes to create a website.

This is my last irrelevant and off topic post on this thread.

Somebody asked for opinions on the whole web site thing. Well here it is.... I would not be too concerned with somebody using your HTML code to start a web page. Yes it is not in the best practice. But for somebody just starting out or learning at the same time, who cares.
I would feel proud that somebody chose my design to model after. Now this would not be true if the person was trying to claim your domain name or the like, which does not seem to be the case.
I don't know what was in the E-mail that was sent (it's really none of my business anyway)...If the mail was well thought out and you stated that you were not comfortable with the copying of generated HTML. I'm sure there could have been an agreement made. Or a point in the right direction. I know that I often grab diferent segments of others scripts, etc. Though often they are modified to the point that you would never know they were yours.
Work something out! It's always better than going back and forth with slander.

Anyway! nice Pics for whoever designed the page.

Ya I just monted it to the frame the same as on the handle bars.. As for the perch and lever i had to adjust my cable down by the clutch basket because it was way too loose.. The stock perch is wider/longer

Skunky, you could have at least half a frickin brain to ask permission to use material off someones site. I know alot of people do it but that don't make it right. Also, most people that swipe material of the manufactures sites can be liable. Although the manufactures look at it as free publicity. A word of warning just watch what you steel or you night be sitting in the can getting it up the a** by buba.
