I just finished doing the motor (440, cam, port & polished head, rev box, pipe, etc..) and need to upgrade the suspension. I am 6'4" and weigh 260lbs. I was thinking of TCS front shocks and re-valving the rear??? I am looking at the $800 range - any opinions?

I am a big fella also 245lbs. I have had good luck with works shocks I put on a banshee I had. I had dual rate with res. fronts and a ultracross rear. Start with a set of fronts, the 400's rear isn't too bad. I am most likely getting works triple rate fronts with res. Although axis, pep, tcs shocks are undoubtedly better, works is the best bang for the buck! Who did your 440 kit and porting? Are you happy with the 440? I hear they blow head gaskets?

I bought the 440 kit from white bros. and had a local Honda mechanic install it. The boring was done by a local machine shop. The head work was done by a friend of mine who builds pulling motors for garden tractors. He works on high performance single cylinder motors all the time.
The motor only has about 15 hours on it - no trouble so far. I hope it doesn't start blowing head gaskets. As far as power goes it has TONS more than stock - I have been extremely happy so far.

800 dollars??? New fronts and rear rebuild from TCS is 1200 dollars. If you want the 800 range get works but TCS are better.

Your best bet is to talk directly to the expert staff at the Shoc Connection and they will ask you questions like...your weight including gear, riding style, race\recreation, suspension mods, etc. I purchaced the tripple rate's w\o cans. They felt that there was no need for them for the recreational rider. Price...$329.00

Hey Nightlife,
Are you gonna be racing that 440? If so , what type of racing? MX? Cross Country? TT? Flat Track? Also, don't forget to include the weight of your gear into your own weight. I'm 6'5" - 250lbs in my B-Day suit but 270lbs with my riding gear on. Smaller humans can't understand just how much a pair of size 14 Alpinestars weigh.

Thanks for the info guy's - I plan to do mostly rec. riding and hope to race some local MX and maybe a couple close CC races if possible. Nothing too serious - just wanting to have a good time.
