Recon vs Ozark in mud
#22
The 250ex would probably reach they're top speed first, because of the lower weight. My recon however will blow a 250ex away in the holeshot, but then they would pass in the overall drag, and then a 300 would win overall. As for the mud... A recon all the way, ozarks are too cheaply made in some areas, and dont have the ***** in some positions. I like my GBC Gators for mud, they work as floating paddles to work your way through, I have been in some pretty intense "goop".

yea ill prolly end up getting the 250ex. Since its the same thing except 50lbs lighter and also i dont need the racks. (thats what the 05 kodiak 450 will be for lol)

This is one of those brand loyal threads that if it had been posted in the Zuki forum, would have had a totally different response.
The Recon and the Ozark are both great bikes - definately worlds away ahead of other 250's. I've got a fair amount of seat time on both and there's no doubt that the Ozark is better in mud than the Recon. Not by much , mind you, but the Zuki has a bit more engine and a little more ground clearence - big factors is wallowing your way through a mud hole. Put more agressive tires on a Recon or a more experienced rider and yes, it will be better in mud than a stock Ozark. But then again, you could add those same tires to the 'Zark.
The bottom line is that both are great quads, I just started counting up all these 'Recon is better' posts and had to throw in a counterpoint.

BOTH,
of these quads will be pretty EQUAL in the mud.The biggest differance you'll notice is that the drum brakes on the Recon WILL leak in MUD/DEBREE after awhile and be a big maintenance issue for you.
The Ozark is better suited for this because it has DISK brakes and does not have a drum to hold water/debree.
