What do you think, are Honda ATV's still the best on earth?

I've never used the GPS on a honda atv.. but the screen is so small, it seems like it wouldn't be as effective as the small units offered by magellan and garmin for portable usage.
In my case, I'd rather have the portable unit that clamps onto the four wheeler and I can take it off and use it for hiking or use it in the truck. Additionally... if the four wheeler was to break down, I could take the gps with me and walk out if necessary. If your machine breaks down the GPS doesn't do you much good to get out of the woods. This could be why other companies don't care much for the GPS feature on their machines.
Like i've said.. i've never actually used a built-in one, but I think the feature is a good idea.
I wonder how many people that purchase the gpscape model use it?

I had 2 Honda Foreman's before I purchased a Polaris Expedition in 1999.
I went to Polaris for the ride comfort and easier steering. The Honda Foreman's
wore me out with their limited travel suspension and I hated the drum brakes
when attempting to stop while going in reverse; darned near killed me once.
Now I'm thinking of getting a new ATV and I really want a new Honda, but the latest
models just don't "have it". If the 2005 Foreman 500 had IRS and the Rincon seat,
I'd be a buyer. If the Rincon had the ES transmission, I'd be a buyer. Thank God
Honda finally put disc brakes on the Foreman's but an IRS is sorely needed. If I could
get a Foreman 500 engine with the ES transmission into the Rincon chassis, that'd do.
'Till then, I'll probably get a new Suzuki King Quad....maybe I'll get used to the belt.
All other manufacturers use belts except Honda, so I'm guessing they can't
be as bad as some make out. I'm just wondering how Suzuki can get so many
features into a 600 lb quad; are the a-arms weak or is it the lack of manual transmission
gears?

i dont agree with you on the honda needs irs.
i had an 03 500 cat and it had irs and you kniow what with the places i go and do the solid axel works just as good as the irs.
the only thing that i liked better about the irs was the ride.
other then that i think the sra is just as good or better.

I love my Hondas.
The new '05 Foreman is sweet. I would love it with IRS, but it's ok without it.
The Rincon has the ES, but a different tranny.
The only downfall to the Rinny is the high gearing and no EB. But then again Honda made it to be a SUV. I love mine to death, but don't like the lack of low gearing.
I love the ride so much on the Rinny with the IRS, that is great.
Good Luck.

The GPS works ok if you just want a very basic GPS and won't use it much.
But, if you want to use it a lot, and be able to get back to where you have been, definately research and get a real one. Get one that you can save tracks and way points. If preferable, one you can aslo download to a puter.
I would suggest a real one.......

When I purchase our next Honda, it will have the GPScape. Just about every hand held GPS offers a lot more features than Hondas. I would like both. The GPScape never gets left home, and the batteries never go dead, even when it is on all day and all night with the light on. You wont loose it or drop and break it. When purchasing a $7000 atv, whats another $200?

HONDA ATVS ARE DEFINETLY THE BEST STILL. THEY HAVE COMPETITION, BUT ITS HARD TO BEAT THE BEST. I HAVE EXPERIENCED MANY DIFFERENT RIDES ON DIFFERENT WHEELERS AND HONDA HAS OUT PERFORMED THEM ALL. HONDA HAS THE BEST SELECTION FOR WHATEVER JOB U ARE PERFORMING WORK OR PLAY.

Sorry guys....While Honda used to be the best, YAMAHA is now the front runner in the sport quad market. Honda still makes a great product but Yamaha is sitting on top of the world. Oh and the honor of worst ATV's on the market? KAWASUKKI of course.
