I'm a diehard Honda guy with two sitting in the garage, but still what I am about to say must make sense. If I'm not mistaken the Kawasaki KFX(??) 400 is the exact same quad as the Suzuki Z400 with different color plastic, right? Isn't the Z400 sitting on top of the sport market right now with a pro rider(Doug Gust) taking it to victory after victory against Yamaha's and Honda's 450s? Both of these are purpose built race machines and with a little tweeking and a big bore kit Doug Gust can win with the Suzuki. And remember it doesn't start out as a racer.....it has electric start AND reverse. So for someone to say that Kawasakis or for that matter ANY brand sucks, I think that person must be very immature and uninformed. We all have our favorites, mine is Honda, everybody is free to buy what they want.

I agree with the overall premise that Honda makes great engines. I must say, however, that when I was shopping I compared the Rancher AT to the Polaris Sportsman 400.......both are essentially the same $$$. The Honda has a very mild air cooled low tech snoozer. The Polaris has a 425cc version of the liquid cooled 500 H.O. engine.......lots more power. I know that the Honda motor I just called a snoozer is absolutely bulletproof........but STILL........give us something with comparable power to every other machine in its class.

I hear so many people comment on Hondas' lower power levels. Do you think this is not intentional
on Hondas' part? Of course it is. Reliability and less lawsuits is Hondas' goal, I am sure.
I you are a power freak, don't buy a Honda. Period. Buy a Yamaha or Polaris and spend your spare time
and spare cash keeping them running.

They're sitting in the shadows of the other companies now. Sport, almost every other company is coming out with new models, or upgraded ones, just not have the updated their 400ex to be an exact replica of their 450R. Utility, I think it is about the same, Kawasaki, and many more are just dominating with their big bores.

Everybody is comming out with an atv now. Bombardier came out with an atv. Maybe they are now the best atv? If I remember right, I thought I saw a tv advertisement that john deer came out with an atv? Not positive though. Maybe that will be the best atv?
It seems to me it depends on what you want it for. Sport or utility? Are you a serious mudder? Do you just want to cruise trouble free. Do you want to get through the mud without getting stuck. I have rode
with all the brands accept the bombardier. I did see one in the woods but just drove by. A logger owned it and he was busy logging and the atv was parked.
If you are talking about owning an atv that can get through the mud. I believe polaris is the best. If you are talking about an atv that just has fewest mechnical problems. Probably honda. The atv with the least on it should have the fewest problems, right?
If your atv gets you where you want to go and gets you back. You have a very good atv !!
Put it this way. On your atv. Do you DARE to ride all alone with just your atv and do you dare to ride
pretty far away from your truck where if you have a problem you would have a pretty long walk back.
You trust your atv so you take the chance ?? - rangerchet owner of a 2000 polaris xpedition 425 5-speed automatic, manual shifter.
