I have 2 250EXs' and they are not heavy, good in mud, wheelie machine, and are fast enough for the width and over all size of the machine. They truly are bullet proof and absorb landings good. Add a pipe and it will be faster and a bit more power will be added. I would like to get a White Bros. E-series for mine.not heavy

How old are you? How come you never considered the 300ex or 400ex?

and how deep of mud could the 05 250ex go through? Could it go through mud over the wheels?

i love when people ask that question...yes it can you just need some good momentum... and personally i would nto buy a pipe for this machine...this machine is for entry level riders and the power is restriced not only threw the airbox(leading to a K&N filter) but by the fac that it is a shaft driven auto cluched quad....meaning you can do all the work you want to it and your not gonna get much speed...also with the white bros pipe(assuming it is a slip on) you really nee dot get the new headers and air filter for you to get juch of any gain...

wow ok theres a lenghty thing on this but there was a dirtwheels issue that tests them 2 head to head...but just to give you the short version the 250ex won...and when i rode the z-250 i was disapointed...the lower proflie tires in the back made it much better at cornering but the lost ground clearnce wasnt worth it...the suspension was much rougher and the gearbox seemed notchy...like when i shofted from 2nd to 3rd there was a jolt that was most unwelcomed...the power was also not there...i felt at home with the 250 ex and thats how it will always be...

I have an 01 250 ex. You can't kill this thing. Its all stock. I've driven through water around 3 ft, just keep the front wheels up or it will drown, I know this for sure. I can climb stuff that others simply won't do. I've flat landed from about 5 - 6 ft too many times and even though it bottoms out hard, nothin has broke. I can wheelie into and land in a wheelie off some jumps. I drive in sand and trails mostly. in sand it needs more power, on trails its just right. It gets up to 50 mph on pavement. I've taken it up to the rocky trails of tellico several times and it works very well there. The auto clutch is a nice thing to have on a steep rocky trail. I am however lookin for a new ride though. All my ridin buddy's have got raptors and new TLD predators and although I can follow them anywhere, when they get on it I can't keep up. In case you guys are wonderin, I'm 30 and 195lbs.

ATV Connection Magazine reviewed the z250 and preferred it over the ex, so there are differing opinions.
